For providers, make "Big Data" a breeze. The biggest challenge for utilities over the next 5 years is dealing with the exponential growth in meter read data due to smart digital meter deployments. Utilities will need to learn how to handle the size of the data and then relate it to customer accounts within ERP systems. This data can be utilized to offer customers time-of-day rate plans, weekly emails showing daily/hourly usage trends by households, usage cost forecasts per customer for the next two weeks, and wholesale power cost revenue assurance reports.
