Using Technology To Enhance Operations and Provide Better Service

Kris R. Smith, Director- IT & PMO, SJI Services
Our biggest I.T. challenges for 2013 are Cyber Security and Replacing our Customer Information and Billing System. With utility companies constantly under cyber-attacks, our network teams spend an enormous amount of time keeping our I.T. infrastructure safe and secure. Replacing our legacy CIS from the Mainframe and heavily customized Cobol applications to a state-of-the-art Oracle Customer Care & Billing System is very exciting and challenging at the same time. The new system affects many parts of our business which include our Customer Call Center and Utility operations. It's enhancing the way we operate our business and the way we interact with our customers.
We are looking forward to implement several new technology solutions from EMC and RSA to stay on the leading edge of Cyber Security and becoming an Oracle Database shop with our new Customer & Billing System.
